then within seconds you’ll get a text message with a 6-digit code. That code is randomly generated every time you try to login. But you don’t type in just that code; you first type in a private 4-digit PIN (think “debit card pin”) that only you know. Then you type in the random six-digit text code.

That’s it. A couple of extra seconds to login, and yet hackers are effectively completely blocked from breaking in. If they even so much as try once, you’ll get the alert on your phone, and know something is amiss.
